another update from the Rambler's Wife

by Stace

Well, we finally got to visit Columbus, Ohio since we got hitched last year, and had a great visit with family and friends. Also went to the Columbus zoo which is really, really nice. We ate and ate and ate - figured if we are going to be in an area where great food is in abundance, we better make the best of it. And so I did.

Baby is still there, presumably. It remains rather quiet which bugs me from time to time, but it is only the size of a bar of soap, so I guess I can understand not feeling it yet. I am 18 weeks today, and in September we will go in for the "big ultrasound" when we will hopefully find out what the sex of Baby is. We are excited, and it will be the first time Kevin gets to see Baby, which will be good as I think he needs to feel that connection. He continues to use my bellybutton as a direct microphone to Baby - which is a little weird for me, I don't mind saying.

Other pregnancy news is that I am doing great, feeling wonderful - although beginning to sleep less and less well. I recently purchased a body pillow which Kevin has taken great offense to, I don't completely understand this, but he continues to remind me that there isn't enough room for all of us and gives it long irritated side glances. I think he feels usurped, and I have to say that the pillow is of significant size and is sometimes challenging to maneuver without whacking Kevin a few times... Other really exciting news for me, but probably not to you, is that I am exploring eating chicken a little again (!) - and this is big news as the smell of it makes me want to yack. And, I ate 2 eggs recently - another food that is repugnant to the senses these days. I tell you - the news I have is titillating.

I cannot believe that fall is almost here - but looking forward to it, and I have been patiently awaiting the reopening of Fireside Orchard so that I can finally get a carmel fudge covered apple... it's been a long summer.

Hmmm. Wonder if Fireside has carmel fudge covered broccoli or brussel sprouts? Just a thought, following up on doc's suggestions. Time to watch the Midnight Malt Cravings!
